ONE DAY PROJECTS FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL ART CLASS

Challenge:
Students creates sculptures out of waffles to photograph.

Materials: 1 or more digital cameras, tabletop lighting set-up (optional), each student brings in plate, utensils, linens etc. and one item for group: box of waffles, sprinkles, icing, chocolate chips, candy, fruit.....

Process:
• Students are given a prompt on day of event or ahead of time to make a sculpture out of waffles
• Students are shown how to use table top sweep and lighting.
• While waffles are being toasted students prepare items, then have 30 minutes to construct their waffle art.
• Students take turns photographing their waffle art.

Lesson Expansion
• Choose prompts for waffle art like family, home, tie-in to art history.
• The day before, show Powerpoint of the history of food in art and/or the history of the waffle.
